Castelló d´Empúries has a great historical medieval importance to this region. This is reflected in its lay out- narrow, cobbled streets, village squares and monumental buildings such as the basilica of Santa Maria (better known as The Cathedral of The Emporda), The Old Bridge, The prison (not in use!) The monastery (now converted in to The Museum of Medieval History), the public wash house (also not in use!) the Flour Museum.
Adjacent to Castelló d´Empúries is the largest residential marina in Europe- Empuriabrava. Empuriabrava is built around 23 kms of navigable canals, has 5000 moorings, port, two km magnificent beach and airclub.
